Peace of mind is a beautiful state. When life seems simple, your thoughts are in order and your mind is clear.
Quite surprisingly, we won’t even notice how peaceful we feel until…
Until we feel anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed for no particular reason.
What just happened?
Imagine a towel.
If you put the towel in water, it will get wet (thanks Sherlock). But the towel will also be heavier, harder to carry, and totally useless.
Your mind is like this towel.
Life is going to plunge your mind into bad emotions sometimes. Life won’t even warn you (not cool life, not cool). Your mind will get heavier, harder to carry, and sometimes unable to function correctly.
What can you do?
You wring your towel to take the water out from it.
In the same way, there are simple things you can do to clear your mind, take bad emotions out of it, and let them go.
You can talk to someone about your problem. Everything is still the same in the real world, but you feel better. Because you now have a clearer vision, a better plan, or just the chance of having someone listening to you.
You can go for a walk or a run. You don’t even think about your problem. You just let your brain take a break. You take care of your body and your body thank you back by releasing some pleasant hormones.
You can change your perception. There is your problem and how you feel about your problem. Usually, the latter is the most difficult of the two. How you think will determine how you feel. Changing your perception is a skill you can learn.
Your towel is now warm and dry again.
Good, keep the towel story in mind and use it when needed.
You got this.
